Garth Crooks encouraged Antonio Rudiger to either commit his allegiance to Chelsea or bid farewell to Stamford Bridge immediately.
During his BBC Team of the Week compilation, Crooks felt it necessary to comment on Rudiger’s contract situation.
It is a saga that has stretched on for what seems an entirety and one that needs concluding straightaway.
Unfortunately, supporters will probably be subjected to more concerns over the German’s future until the very last whistle.uture right now
The Blues reportedly recently offered him a pay package of £170,000-a-week, which would make him the highest-earning defender in the club’s history.
Some feat considering the illustrious names that have either walked before Rudiger or are still beside him in the dressing room.
Many players wouldn’t hesitate to snap up such an offer.
However, the former Roma centurion clearly feels his value to the team is worth even more money.
Whilst many fans cannot disagree with this argument, surely a line must be drawn before too long if he really values Chelsea that highly.
“Most of the talk surrounding Rudiger these days seems to be around whether he has come to some sort of arrangement with Chelsea regarding his contract,” said Crooks.
“It’s clear the club don’t want to lose him but this has gone on quite long enough. Either Rudiger wants to play for the club on a long-term basis or he doesn’t.
“It’s time it was sorted out.”
We couldn’t have put it much better ourselves, Garth.
Rudiger constantly reminds the media how much he adores Chelsea and loves working with Thomas Tuchel.
If his love for the Blues burns so bright, why not demonstrate it by agreeing to a new deal.
Of course, we cannot claim to be aware of the situation behind the scenes.
Something other than a difference in price might be preventing the transaction from going through.
